We do not provide direct removal or pruning services, focusing instead on independent assessment, planning, and advisory work.

About Us
We founded Root Cause Tree Care to meet a growing need for independent, reliable second opinions on tree health. Friends and family often asked whether their trees truly needed work, whether a diagnosis was accurate, and whether a quoted price was fair. We built Root Cause Tree Care to provide clear, unbiased answers and help clients make informed, actionable decisions with confidence.

Raleigh based, but we are willing to go anywhere within the triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) including surrounding communities (Hillsborough, Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Willow Spring, etc.). Our consultants are also willing to travel to other parts of North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida if we feel as though we can provide value to the client and actionable solutions to the problem.

Founder
Dana began as a climbing arborist for a large city in the southeast. Dana learned to climb; however, quickly became disuaded by the constant removal of trees that likely could have been saved. From there, he moved on to one of the largest treecare companies in the US. This is where he cut his teeth in the consulting industry, but quickly came to realize he could provide better support and fill industry gaps by charting a new path forward.
